The challenge for the owners of this existing Lockwood property was how to extend without simply extruding the existing form. They wanted a contemporary garage and bedroom addition to the house that respected the proportions and materials of the existing property but that had its own unique identity. We separated the existing from the new with a glazed transition space and created a stepped form which balances the proportions of the addition from the street front. The new bedroom and deck have a beautiful outlook over a tree filled valley.
