Blackbird house renovation

It was a pleasure to collaborate with a wonderful family whose Farm Cove property was due for an upgrade. They wanted to create a home that was future proofed for accessibility requirements in addition to ensuring that there was enough room for the transition of their kids into their teenage years.

The scope of works included rebuilding the front of the house to add a second storey - this made the most of the outlook over the reserve and the sea views. The new floor is accessed via a floating oak staircase. A skylight above and windows into the dining room ensures light can illuminate the central hallway. Next to the house is a large oak tree, this provides shade in the summer, privacy, and informed materials that were used through new bathrooms, floors, balustrades and ceiling details.

For more information about the family and their renovation journey, you can see their video interview on our portfolio page HERE.
